Dr. Radoslav Danilák, Founder and CEO of Tachyum
In the first quarter of 2023 several positive events took place that are of particular importance to Tachyum.
Tachyum was honored to host the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová to witness first-hand the progress of our Prodigy Universal Processor, which is in the final stage of development. We had a unique opportunity to discuss with the President topics such as innovation, green economy, sustainability, and attracting top regional talent. There are many areas in which Prodigy can help Slovakia and the world - whether it´s solving the climate crisis or maximizing the use of resources from the Slovakian supercomputer project. We greatly appreciated that the President supports technology innovations and our vision.
Artificial Intelligence-powered chatbot ChatGPT has been a hot topic nowadays. AI is an area of particular interest to Tachyum and current trends in AI, as well as ChatGPT, present significant opportunities for us. Our Prodigy processor addresses market demands in AI, enabling deep learning workloads that are environmentally friendly by significantly reducing energy consumption and therefore carbon emissions. The advantage of our chip is, that Prodigy was designed, from the ground up, rather than an afterthought, to handle matrix and vector processing, which is crucial for AI applications.
Tachyum has achieved further milestones in the field of product development. We demonstrated the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) running on the Prodigy Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware emulation system, representing a critical piece of our test strategy and ensuring that Prodigy hardware is on pace for production later this year. We have completed testing and validation of Prodigy with Kubernetes system for hyperscale, high-performance container management.
I would like to touch on one more topic, that has resonated in recent days. Startup-focused lender Silicon Valley Bank collapsed. At this point, I would like to ensure you, that Tachyum was not affected in any way. Tachyum did not have any accounts or transactions with SVB bank or other regional banks. As a company, we prefer doing business with large banks. Because of our international corporate structure, we have had our funds in large international banks over multiple regions.
And last but not least Tachyum released two new white papers - Tachyum HPC/AI Software Stack Overview and Air Dominance Powered by Prodigy.

Tachyum Presents Software Stack for HPC/AI and Supercomputer Management
A white paper, “Tachyum HPC/AI Software Stack Overview,” details the software packages offered by the company and supported by Tachyum software team that enable software developers to build HPC applications deployed as part of Prodigy-empowered data centers.
Tachyum’s software designs help meet the high demands of cloud and HPC/AI workloads with Prodigy. The company’s software team cooperates with early customers and partners to create software packages ideally suited for HPC environments primarily using open-source software. With its software stack, Tachyum supports all key software libraries required for HPC applications and addresses current challenges and opportunities.
“Multiple different processing technologies are combined in today’s HPC systems. Achieving the required performance and functionality at an affordable power envelope places a lot of challenges to HPC software environments – especially on scheduling and resource management. Tachyum’s Prodigy, the world’s first Universal Processor, integrates the functionality of CPU, GPGPU and TPU into a single homogeneous architecture so that there is no additional complexity needing to be solved on the software level between hardware components”
Tachyum Unveils Air Defense Superiority Using Prodigy AI White Paper
Tachyum released details of Prodigy, the world’s first Universal Processor, for advanced military and defense avionics applications in a new white paper “Air Dominance Powered by Prodigy“.
The new white paper explains Prodigy’s performance benefits to onboard computers and the algorithms they run, and its cost advantages in a challenging economic environment. As a universal processor, Prodigy enables both high-speed flight control, and AI-driven sensor fusion and decision-cueing, based on battlespace information optimally presented to the pilot, with one platform.
“This white paper is a call to arms for how defense and aerospace platform manufacturers across the world, including EU, can provide cost-effective, high-impact sensor and onboard computer upgrades that will restore military air dominance.”
Dr. Danilák is the author of the idea to build a world-class supercomputer in Slovakia and Tachyum alongside with partners within I4DI (Innovations for Digital Infrastructure) provided their relevant capabilities and experience to the development of the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) in Slovakia. Slovakia urgently needs to transform its industry. A world-class supercomputer can have a huge impact and contribution to the development of new innovative industries, it is a potential that can significantly change the industry in Slovakia. If a country wants to be recognized as a supercomputing power, it’s not enough to have a supercomputer in the top 500. It’s not even enough to have a supercomputer in the top 50. There are nearly 200 countries in the world. If researchers want a supercomputer to solve the most complex and challenging calculations, they don’t want the 50th-best supercomputer. They want the best, second best, or maybe the third best.
In Slovakia, there is interest in a powerful supercomputer with world-class performance. The survey by Tachyum, which addressed experts, and representatives of the academic community, representatives of the private and state sectors, and potential users of the upcoming supercomputer, found that 92% of respondents think that the planned supercomputer should offer world-class performance.
Access to higher computing power and sufficient technological infrastructure is also an opportunity to actively participate in big EU or global projects.
“The real possibility of having a world-class supercomputer in Slovakia may not be repeated for years. This opportunity includes everything that can help Slovakia - from attracting top talents from around the world to a good image of the country. New digital economies are growing in the world and all around us, and we have a real chance to create our own. That is why it is important that we take it. Let’s build the Slovak Fintech sector through a supercomputer with AI.”
Davy Čajko, president of Fintech & Insurtech Association of Slovakia
In February 2023, Tachyum organized on its premises in Bratislava an event for Slovak HPC and AI community to present the progress with Prodigy and discuss important topics relating to the Slovak supercomputer project. Up to 50 representatives and experts from academia, public and private sector attended.
