SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 17, 2020 – Tachyum™ Inc. today announced that it was recognized for its innovative approach, dedicated vision and effective solutions by being named as one of the “100 Best Companies to Watch Out for in 2020” in the July edition of Exeleon Magazine.
Exeleon is a business and tech magazine that strives to highlight companies and entrepreneurs that have pursued and achieved excellence in their industry. Those that make the annual “Best Companies” issue have been chosen from the thousands of companies from around the globe tracked by the publication’s team of experts. Tachyum was recognized for its approach to transforming existing software to new computational mechanisms, the success achieved in designing the world’s first universal processor and the team behind these efforts.
“With data centers evolving, the need for technologies that can provide new ways of looking at the processing of applications at a cost-effective and time-saving manner is becoming evident,” according to excerpts from the Exeleon feature. “Tachyum’s Prodigy boasts a unique design that can ‘replace the majority of existing chips provisioned in hyperscale (i.e. cloud) data centers.’ The solutions are pervading diverse strata in fields like big data analytics, deep learning, edge computing and large-scale-computing.”
In addition to highlighting Prodigy, the magazine also recognized the company’s successful performance as a team, focusing on leadership that has more than 100 combined years of experience in the industry. Included in the article are acknowledgments of the company’s co-founders – CEO Dr. Radoslav Danilak, chief architect Rodney Mullendore, vice president software engineering Igor Shevlyakov and vice president business development Ken Wagner. Under their leadership, Tachyum is set to launch its new Prodigy chip in the first half of 2021.
Prodigy, the company’s 64-core flagship product, outperforms the fastest Xeon processors at 10x lower power (core vs. core) on data center workloads, as well as outperforming NVIDIA’s fastest GPU on neural net AI training and inference. Due to its high computational density and I/O bandwidth, networks of Prodigy processors comprising just 125 HPC racks, can deliver an ExaFLOPS (a billion, billion floating point operations per second) of capacity. Prodigy’s 3X lower cost per MIPS compared to other CPU competition, coupled with its 10X processor power savings, translates to a 4X reduction in Data Center TCO (Annual Total Cost of Ownership: CAPEX + OPEX). Even at 50 percent Prodigy attach rates, this translates to billions of dollars per year in real savings for hyperscalers such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon.
Since Prodigy can seamlessly and dynamically switch from data center workloads to AI or HPC workloads, unused servers can be powered up, on demand, as ad hoc AI or HPC networks – CAPEX free, since the servers themselves are already purchased. Every Prodigy-provisioned data center, by definition, becomes a low-cost AI center of excellence, and a low-cost HPC system.
“It is always a good day when you are honored for providing excellence within the business and technology communities but it’s a great day when you are honored among the Top 100 Best Companies in doing so,” said Danilak. “We are pleased to have been recognized by Exeleon Magazine for achieving excellence in both the development of our Prodigy solution, as well as for the quality of leadership in bringing such a solution to market. While this issue focused on companies to watch out for in 2020, we are confident that Tachyum will continue to be one to watch for years to come.”
